Once again demonstrating its strength, Alberta has a strong showing in an annual ranking of Canada's fastest-growing businesses.
In their 2023 ranking of Canada's Fast-Growing Companies, The Globe & Mail identifies 11 Edmonton-based businesses and 25 Calgary-based businesses.
"These 425 businesses—which range in size from three to nine thousand employees—represent a wide range of goods and services, from private equity financing to perinatal health care to anti-chafing shorts. However, they all share remarkable three-year growth rates," according to G&M.
Dr. Phone Fix, an electronics repair company based in Edmonton that has experienced rapid growth, debuts on the list for the first time, ranking 10th nationally after a three-year revenue increase of more than 3,000%.
Growing companies in Edmonton's tech sector include the heavily capitalized Jobber (128th), the fintech startup Trust Science (20th), and OneSoft Solutions (269th), which provides sales software.
Saturn Oil & Gas, established in 2001, is the fastest-growing company in Calgary, with revenue growth of almost 2,000% to date.
Regular readers of Calgary.tech will be familiar with the tech companies on the list, which includes well-funded Symend (ranked 34th) and award-winning Goodlawyer (ranked 35th), along with virtual Gurus (ranked 91st) and Showpass (ranked 192nd), innovators in event tickets.
The list also included Consumer Genius, a different startup that Calgary.tech covered earlier this year.
The fifth annual Report on Business ranking of Canada's Top Growing Companies was introduced in 2019 and ranks Canadian private and public companies that participate based on their revenue growth over the previous three years.
